City Maps for your iPod
iAudioguide.com has prepared city maps for colour-screen iPods (and other colour-screen mp3 players). All you have to do is to click on the city name below and download the map (it comes as a zip file, e.g. Rome4G.zip). Then save the images in the photo folder of your iPod (read more detailed instructions below or here). To see the map, select the iPod's Photo menu and navigate through the photos using the arrow buttons.

Other websites offer more
travel tools for your iPod, such as subway maps
for Paris
and London.
Information about where to eat in many cities can be downloaded from the Rough
Guides' Podscrolls
and a special Barcelona iPod guide is offered by Barcelona's international student website brighterplace.com. All those
websites offer more detailed instructions how to synchronise. A summary
for the slightly advanced user follows:
For PC users:
Unzip the downloaded file save the folder under 'My
Pictures'. Open iTunes, select the 'Edit'
menu and click on 'Preferences'. Choose the Photos tab and synchronise
the iPod with your 'My Pictures'
folder. The city map will be on your iPod's photos. With the new iTunes
7 the interface is slightly different, but the principle is the same.
For Mac users:
Unzip the file and open iPhoto. Create a new photo
album by dragging the folder
with the city name (e.g. Rome4G) to the left column (Source List). Open
iTunes, 'Preferences' from
the iTunes menu and and synchronise the iPod with your 'My
Pictures'
folder. The city map will be on your iPod's photos. With the new iTunes
7 the
interface is slightly different, but the principle is the same.
